  • Maintain a clean, organized, secure, and professional shop environment.

Communication & Coordination

  • Work with drivers, dispatch, plant/operations teams, and the Fleet and Equipment Manager to address vehicle and equipment issues promptly.

  • Communicate status of repairs, estimated timelines, and any delays that could affect production or deliveries.

  • Provide practical input on recurring mechanical problems and recommended corrective actions.

Compliance, Safety & Standards

  • Enforce all company safety policies, OSHA, DOT/FMCSA, environmental, and shop-specific requirements.

  • Ensure proper use of PPE, tools, and equipment, and maintain safe working conditions.

  • Support accident/incident investigations related to shop or equipment issues and help implement preventive measures.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor shop productivity, repair quality, downtime, and costs; identify opportunities to improve efficiency.

  • Assist with maintenance records, documentation, and use of fleet/maintenance software systems.

  • Contribute practical recommendations on tools, processes, training, and equipment reliability.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Proven hands-on experience as a diesel/heavy-equipment mechanic (preferably on ready-mix trucks, dump trucks, loaders, or similar heavy vehicles), followed by supervisory or shop-lead experience.

  • Strong technical knowledge of heavy truck and equipment systems, diagnostics, and repair procedures.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a shop team while maintaining high standards of workmanship.

  • Working knowledge of preventive maintenance programs, work-order systems, and basic parts inventory practices.

  • Familiarity with DOT, OSHA, and shop safety requirements.

  • Solid communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with basic computer systems and willingness to use maintenance management software.

  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
