Mixer Truck Driver​​

Job Scope and Responsibilities:

The Mixer Truck Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of ready-mix concrete to customer job sites, ensuring operational reliability and exceptional service. This role supports S.B. Cox Ready Mix’s concrete delivery operations by operating mixer trucks, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety and regulatory standards, contributing to the company’s reputation as a leading producer in Richmond, VA.

Key Duties:​

• Delivery and Operations:

  • Safely deliver ready-mix concrete to commercial and residential job sites, ensuring efficient loading, transport, and unloading of perishable products.

  • Perform pre-trip and ongoing inspections of mixer trucks to confirm safety and operational standards.

  • Clean and maintain mixer truck interior/exterior and chute extensions to company standards.

  • Conduct efficient delivery operations, managing time to meet customer schedules.

• Customer Service:

  • Communicate effectively with customers to ensure satisfaction and address delivery needs on-site.

  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude, adhering to company presentation policies.

  • Provide real-time feedback on delivery conditions to dispatch for operational efficiency.

• Compliance and Safety:

  • Adhere to all company safety policies, state/federal regulations (e.g., DOT), and industry standards during deliveries.

  • Keep work areas, trucks, and equipment clean, organized, and secure to ensure a safe environment.

• Collaboration:

  • Work closely with dispatch, maintenance teams, and field personnel to stay on schedule and address equipment issues.

  • Provide input on delivery and equipment conditions to support operational decisions.​

Qualifications:

• Class A or B Virginia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and clean chute extensions.

• Physical capability to climb in/out of truck cab and up/down ladders.

• Strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Professional attitude with excellent customer service and communication skills.

• Punctuality and flexibility to work overtime, rotating shifts, and Saturdays.

• No prior ready-mix experience required; training provided.

• Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
